Hotel Information
2 Star, Superior Tourist Class Historical Hotel The hotel is located directly in the heart of York, within the old city walls of Skeldergate. Less than a minute from the riverside and centrally located, the hotel is positions in a quite road surrounded in its own gardens. All rooms are medium in size and are decorated in a variety of styles. The rooms are all in fair condition as are the bathrooms. The rooms all have the following amenities that one would expect, tea/ coffee making facilities etc. The rooms are scattered around the hotels grounds in a number of buildings, thus varying in style. The hotel has two restaurants, one is called "Sawmill" and one is a large conservatory giving the room a big bright airy feeling. There is a variety of fine home cooking on offer. The restaurant overlooks the beautiful gardens in which the hotel is set. The hotel nestles in a courtyard garden setting. The hotel dates back to 1659 and the facade reflects this, although constant maintanence work is inplace to keep the building in tact. Car parking is available at the rear of the hotel. A large welcoming lobby awaits you, again the lobby is under a large conservatory roof giving a bright spacious feel. A decent hotel set in very pretty surroundings with a location to match.
